Teach for Summer Session!

Another semester comes to an end. No, no don’t cry. Pull yourself together and think about teaching for our summer session! Get your friends in on it – there, now, don’t you feel better?

Yes, we need you to pull out all your skills, hobbies and interests and TEACH!

The next semester will begin June 1st and go until the end of August 2013. We’d love to have class submissions from you. The deadline for submissions is May 1st. To submit please go to our website at

Report from the DIY Solar Panel Cooker Class

Last Saturday, Shawn Reeves of EnergyTeachers.org came over to Shira and Ari’s house to give a workshop on how to make a solar panel cooker using recycled materials. Visit the Shirari blog for photos and info on how to make your own!

Join the Ithaca Freeskool in celebration of the end of another semester at our fun spring social. We’ll be hanging out in the newly cooperated Buffalo Street Books with snacks, trivia, live music, and maybe even some Freeskool buttons.

Most importantly, we’ll be revealing our Summer Session calendar! Come see what Ithaca Freeskool has in store for your summer. We’ll give you one hint: everything is free.

Come to the first ever Freeskool Prom!

The Ithaca Freeskool will host the first ever Freeskool Prom dance party at the Tompkins County Workers Center at 115 The Commons, above Autumn Leaves Used Books on Wednesday, September 22nd from 8 pm to 1 am.

The event is free and will be DJ’ed by Bob Proehl, formerly of No Radio Records. The Freeskool Prom celebrates the end of the summer term and the release of the Fall term calendars, chock full of free classes for all ages. Everyone is welcome to come and get their groove on.

Attendees are encouraged to dress up for the prom, and yes, you get to decide what that means. See you there – tell your friends!!

Missed a class? Loved a workshop so much that you want to relive it? As part of D.I.Y. Movie-Making, we’re filming other Ithaca Freeskool classes and making them available online for anyone who wants to participate.

Part I of a 3-hour class taught by 7Song, Director of the Northeast School of Botanical Medicine on April 3, 2010. Learn how to treat common illnesses with local plants, for free!
